Being an IT engineer, I was involved in design and development of a complex communication manager module, which handled communication over various communication mediums. The tough part, surprisingly was not the coding phase. The toughest part, was to prepare a common design framework, which gives optimum performance and at the same time works equally well for all platforms. After a lot of thought provocations, discussions and analysis, the design phase started. Since the requirement phase was already completed, hence we had a concrete set of requirements in front of us.

Based on my presumptions on some unknown parameters and the requirements, I started the design. Due to the limited knowledge, that was there, this activity involved a lot of learning, unlearning and relearning. The design was a tedious task and required some serious thinking. And as predicted, the work was full of work and rework every now and then. But we had no complaints. As it was the nature of this job, we were open and accepting to all the intricacies. We knew that it was always going to be the part and parcel of the job in our hands. After working for six months I was ready with my design and it was good according to my understanding.

But then suddenly an additional requirement was added. The client wanted to monitor the smtp server address. And as a result of this last minute change of requirements the design required a slight modification. Finally after an additional overhead of a week, I did add the required smtp server address monitoring system modification. Now the design was ready and I forwarded it to management for review and later on when they approved it, next on line was client. And it was something that required some time. So I sent it to the client and waited patiently for a month awaiting client's feedback. And finally it came. The client had given the feedback that, he was satisfied with the design coverage. And it was good according to their analysis. Once this last barrier before coding was lifted, all that we required was to move to the implementation phase. And without wasting anymore precious time, we started the next phase. And with the help of a very committed and intelligent coding team, this phase was completed well within the time. And once it was done, the next operation was its testing and review. That was again completed very fast.

And after final modification and slight tweaking here it was our project all ready and set for delivery. On the day of delivery it was an overflow of mixed emotions and it felt really great to see my creation taking shape and doing the required task so perfectly and efficiently. trust me there is nothing comparable to the feeling of satisfaction when you see your work getting successfully completed and you getting the required appreciation for your dedication and efforts.
